Automation of the measurement of the physiological and behavioural parameters of livestock has become an important goal for both scientists and farmers. Accurate data and knowledge about farmed animals, especially in cattle breeding, are needed. Proper early diagnosis of a cow's health status in real time allows for preventing the development of infection, oestrus detection and leads to reduced environmental stress. Thus, it contributes to more effective herd management. Among the physiological parameters, body temperature and its fluctuations are key indicators of health and well-being in animals. Currently, along with the development of technical solutions and their implementation, increasingly more attention is being paid to the continuously measurement of body core and peripheral temperature in animals. Recently there has been an increased number of publications devoted to this subject. However, there is a need to systematise this knowledge as these studies have had different purposes, have been performed in various environmental conditions, and the measurements were taken using different methods and equipment. As such, the results obtained by the different authors often may not be comparable. For this reason, this paper has two main purposes: to present the most widely used continuous methods of peripheral and body core temperature measurement, and to show its references values which characterise the individual locations of the cattle body in thermoneutral ambient. An analysis of the professional publications regarding measurements of peripheral and deep body temperature led to the conclusion that these methods have high research and diagnostic potential. However, it is necessary to standardised research to enable better and more comparable results, including among others; different cattle groups, animal age, health and environmental conditions.  相似文献

目的:探讨应用山萘酚增强Treg细胞免疫抑制功能,从而抑制大鼠移植物排斥反应并改善移植物生存的作用和机制。方法:以Wister大鼠和SD大鼠分别为供、受体,建立同种异体皮肤移植排斥反应动物模型。观察受体老鼠皮肤移植物的情况,记录移植物失功时间(移植物皮片80%面积发生排斥)。RT-PCR检测移植7天后脾细胞、淋巴细胞FOXP3、CTLA-4和IL-10的mRNA水平,用HE染色组织病理学观察术后7天移植皮片的淋巴细胞浸润程度。体外实验T细胞增殖抑制试验加入山萘酚作为对照,观察Treg功能情况。结果:1.山萘酚能增强移植后同种异体移植物的生存时间(DMSO组6.3±0.3天,山萘酚组13.7±0.39天,P<0.01);2.RT-PCR显示山萘酚可增强细胞CTLA-4(对照组9.24±0.17,山萘酚组12.48±0.145,P<0.05)、FOXP3(对照组0.96±0.07,山萘酚组1.41±0.07,P<0.01)和IL-10(对照组0.95±0.12,山萘酚组1.50±0.16,P<0.05)的mRNA水平;3.体外T细胞增殖抑制实验中,山萘酚可增强Treg细胞的免疫抑制功能。结论:在大鼠皮肤移植模型中,山萘酚可延长皮肤移植物的生存时间,提高Treg细胞相关IL-10、FOXP3和CTLA-4的mRNA水平;体外实验中,能抑制效应T细胞的增殖,表明山萘酚在提高移植物生存方面存在一定的价值。  相似文献

The effects of o‐phenylphenol (OPP) and its metabolite, phenylhydroquinone (PHQ) on the skin of JY‐4 black guinea‐pigs were studied. Topical application of 1 or 5% PHQ on the black skin of the back caused marked depigmentation and hypopigmentation of the skin after 5 weeks, whereas OPP applied at the same concentrations had little effect. Depigmented skin had an increased L* (lightness) value in the CIE‐L*a*b* color system. This corresponded with a decreased number of melanocytes and melanosomes in the melanocytes and keratinocytes, the disruption of melanosomes in the melanocytes, and destruction of the membranous organelles of the melanocytes. These morphological and numerical changes in epidermal melanocytes indicate that selective melanocyte toxicity occurred. Furthermore, application of PHQ to the skin of white guinea‐pigs caused skin irritation, as shown by a colorimetric increase in a* value (redness) and by histological observation of inflammation. This study confirmed that OPP, which is a reported depigmenter, has little depigmenting action, while its metabolite, PHQ, is a potent depigmenter preferentially affecting melanocytes.  相似文献

Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling is known to be involved in multiple inductive events during embryogenesis including the development of amniote skin. Here, we demonstrate that early application of BMP-2 to the lateral trunk of chick embryos induces the formation of dense dermis, which is competent to participate in feather development. We show that BMPs induce the dermis markers Msx-1 and cDermo-1 and lead to dermal proliferation, to expression of β-catenin, and eventually to the formation of ectopic feather tracts in originally featherless regions of chick skin. Moreover, we present a detailed analysis of cDermo-1 expression during early feather development. The data implicate that cDermo-1 is located downstream of BMP in a signaling pathway that leads to condensation of dermal cells. The roles of BMP and cDermo-1 during development of dermis and feather primordia are discussed.  相似文献

Background and Aims

Resin ducts (RDs) are features present in most conifer species as defence structures against pests and pathogens; however, little is known about RD expression in trees following fire injury. This study investigates changes in RD size and density in fire scars of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and western larch (Larix occidentalis) as a means to evaluate the ecophysiological significance of traumatic resinosis for tree defence and survival.

Methods

Transverse and tangential microsections were prepared for light microscopy and image analysis in order to analyse axial and radial RDs, respectively. Epithelial cells of RDs and fusiform rays associated with radial RDs were also examined. RDs were compared between normal xylem and wound xylem at four different section heights along the fire-injured stem.

Key Results

Following fire injury, P. menziesii axial RDs narrowed by 38–43 % in the first year after injury, and the magnitude of this change increased with stem height. Larix occidentalis axial RDs widened by 46–50 % in the second year after injury. Radial RDs were of equivalent size in P. menziesii, but widened by 162–214 % in L. occidentalis. Fusiform rays were larger following fire injury, by 4–14 % in P. menziesii and by 23–38 % in L. occidentalis. Furthermore, axial RD density increased in both species due to the formation of tangential rows of traumatic RDs, especially in the first and second years after injury. However, radial RD density did not change significantly.

Conclusions

These results highlight traumatic resinosis as a species-specific response. Pseudotsuga menziesii produce RDs of equivalent or reduced size, whereas L. occidentalis produce wider RDs in both the axial and radial duct system, thereby increasing resin biosynthesis and accumulation within the whole tree. Larix occidentalis thus appears to allocate more energy to defence than P. menziesii.  相似文献

New technologies afford convenient modalities for skin temperature (TSKIN) measurement, notably involving wireless telemetry and non-contact infrared thermometry. The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability of skin temperature measurements using a telemetry thermistor system (TT) and thermal camera (TC) during exercise in a hot environment. Each system was compared against a certified thermocouple, measuring the surface temperature of a metal block in a thermostatically controlled waterbath. Fourteen recreational athletes completed two incremental running tests, separated by one week. Skin temperatures were measured simultaneously with TT and TC compared against a hard-wired thermistor system (HW) throughout rest and exercise. Post hoc calibration based on waterbath results displayed good validity for TT (mean bias [MB]=−0.18 °C, typical error [TE]=0.18 °C) and reliability (MB=−0.05 °C, TE=0.31 °C) throughout rest and exercise. Poor validity (MB=−1.4 °C, TE=0.35 °C) and reliability (MB=−0.65 °C, TE=0.52 °C) was observed for TC, suggesting it may be best suited to controlled, static situations. These findings indicate TT systems provide a convenient, valid and reliable alternative to HW, useful for measurements in the field where traditional methods may be impractical.  相似文献

目的观察不同造模方法致糖尿病大鼠慢性皮肤溃疡创面形态及愈合时间的影响。方法 50只SD大鼠随机分为5组:皮肤缺损组(QS组:剪皮),糖尿病组(DM组:STZ+剪皮),糖尿病加金黄色葡萄球菌组(DMJJ组:STZ+剪皮+金葡菌),糖尿病加激素组(DMJS组:STZ+剪皮+激素注射),糖尿病加激素加异物组(DMYW组:STZ+剪皮+激素注射+异物埋置)。糖尿病模型稳定后每周测量血糖1次,每日称量体重、观察疮面情况、测量创面面积。12 d后处死,石蜡包埋肉芽组织观察其组织病理形态。结果 DMJJ组前5d愈合速度快于其余组(P0.01);DMYW组的愈合时间延长,DMYW组愈合率显著偏低,与其余组比较有统计学意义(P0.01)。造模12 d其余组愈合率无统计学差异,DMYW组愈合率显著低于其余组(P0.01)。结论注射激素大鼠表现出中医"阴证"证型特点,糖尿病加激素注射加异物埋置复合因素造模法能使大鼠创面表现出与临床相似的"阴证"证型特点。  相似文献

Our aim was to design a simple compression system and investigate the influence of mechanical stress on skin-like structures. Many mechanical compression studies have employed intricate culture systems, so the relationship between extracellular matrix material and the response of skin cells to mechanical stress remains unknown. Our approach uses only glass vials, 6-well plates and standard laboratory equipment. We examined the influence of mechanical stress on human skin fibroblasts embedded within a collagen sponge. The results show that mechanical compression increases MMP-1 and MMP-2 release by the cells into the the cell culture. Our results suggest that pressure on the skin may affect extracellular matrix degradation through some as yet unidentified pathways and that IL-6 mRNA expression may be involved in this effect. Using our approach, the effects of static mechanical stress on protein expression by cells in the culture medium and in sponges can be easily examined, and therefore this system will be useful for further analyses of skin responses to mechanical stress.  相似文献

Skin wound healing is finely regulated by both matrix synthesis and degradation which are governed by dermal fibroblast activity. Actually, fibroblasts synthesize numerous extracellular matrix proteins (i.e., collagens), remodeling enzymes and their inhibitors. Moreover, they differentiate into myofibroblasts and are able to develop endogenous forces at the wound site. Such forces are crucial during skin wound healing and have been widely investigated. However, few studies have focused on the effect of exogenous mechanical tension on the dermal fibroblast phenotype, which is the objective of the present paper. To this end, an exogenous, defined, cyclic and uniaxial mechanical strain was applied to fibroblasts cultured as scratch-wounded monolayers. Results showed that fibroblasts? response was characterized by both an increase in procollagen type-I and TIMP-1 synthesis, and a decrease in MMP-1 synthesis. The monitoring of scratch-wounded monolayers did not show any decrease in kinetics of the filling up when mechanical tension was applied. Additional results obtained with proliferating fibroblasts and confluent monolayer indicated that mechanical tension-induced response of fibroblasts depends on their culture conditions. In conclusion, mechanical tension leads to the differentiation of dermal fibroblasts and may increase their wound-healing capacities. So, the exogenous uniaxial and cyclic mechanical tension reported in the present study may be considered in order to improve skin wound healing.  相似文献
